In 1978, Marilyn Swift established Marilyn's Stained Glass in Savannah, Georgia. Today we are located in Michigan’s beautiful Upper Peninsula, where Marilyn was born. We are easy to find. Turn right on Sunshine Road atop Quincy Hill in Hancock.
The studio has a variety of stained glass products and services to suit your needs, such as custom made stained and beveled glass windows and doors, restoration & repair of broken or damaged old stained glass, plus a gallery with more than 3,000 square feet of space.
The gift gallery is a Treasure Trove of fun and exiting gifts for everyone on your list. The display of hand crafted, on site, fused , leaded and copper foiled pieces range from the small suncatcher to beautiful tiffany lamps and brilliantly crafted stained and beveled glass windows and doors.
Marilyn’s Stained Glass is dedicated to providing its clients with the highest level of artistry and craftsmanship. We deliver windows of both physical integrity and inspired beauty. We provide customers with quality products and instruction necessary to fabricate your own creations successfully.
The work studio is a new space with many amenities, including a 4’ x 6’ light box table, a full basement with kilns, a kitchenette where coffee and good conversation are always present, and a vacation class apartment upstairs. Marilyn Swift and apprentice, Pam Dessellier are continuously working on many projects (you may see one in progress).
The teaching section of the studio, allows for up to six people at a time, where they can receive instruction in stained glass construction. Offering classes year round, including classes for the vacationer. The different types of classes being taught are: beginning, intermediate, or advanced stained glass in copper foil or lead and fusing. Some of the different types of projects you can learn to make are lead came windows, panel lamps, tiffany lamps, glass mosaics, picture frames, stained glass boxes, stained and beveled glass windows, stained glass stone tables, mosaic stepping stones, and garden stakes. The Retail section offers everything that a glass crafter needs to work with stained glass. We offer a selection with over 10,000 square feet of stained glass varying from clear textured to hand rolled opalescent and cathedrals. Other products include: stock bevels, many different beveled clusters; saws and grinders; solder and soldering equipment; chemicals and supplies; instruction and pattern books; hand tools; wood projects and frames; copper foil, lead came and zinc, copper and brass capping; lamp making supplies; lamp bases; glass etching supplies; fusing supplies; bead making supplies; jewels and specialty glass; glass paints; stained glass kits, and System 96 fusing supplies. We also have some 90 in stock for the 90 people, finished glass works, custom work to specifications, gift items, seasonal and holiday items, mosaic supplies, and videos.
